server dummies
how to find and identify the primary and secondary DNS on my windows vista system?

I’ve typed in on the command prompt ipconfig/all and got all the information displayed but I cannot see the primary and/or secondary DNS servers. PLEASE, make the instructions on how to find on a for dummies basis, thanks in advance

Look for

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . :

There should be at least 1 address listed. It’s nice to have 2 servers, in case the primary fails, but you could go years without ever using the secondary. How many you get is up to your provider – or you’ll get one if you use your router as your DNS server (your DNS server address and your Gateway address will be the same).
