Excel 2007 can use a Quad Core processor? If not now, is the Microsoft Office?
I have an Excel program that takes Heavy 4 minutes to run Excel 2003. I'm buying a quad core (Intel Q6600, 2.4 GHz) processor computer. I need to know if that makes a difference if you also get Excel 2007. Or should I wait?
Excel 2003 only uses a single core, no matter what you have. In Excel 2007, you can use multiple cores. And you can tell how much to use. The default is to use them all, but you can limit this to only 2 out of 4 if desired. That said, do not think any of the advantages of Excel from cores manifold. For example, there is no way to write a multi-threaded program VBA. You can write your own COM add-in that uses multiple cores, but not really VBA.
